The Truth About Senior Moments

We all have our moments when the word stays paralyzed in our throat. We can see and hear, face, voice, but we struggle to name who it is that we have in our minds. Most of us dismissed moments as moments of high level. After all, we reason, are part of aging. But a new study, which was born in Chicago recently to something else. Senior moments can not be taken as harmless as previously. The study suggests that a disturbing number of cases, embarrassing moments, senioras a word forgotten the name or the last conversation really are marks or signs of Alzheimer's disease.

After dissecting the brains of 134 older, it seemed, except for a few moments of forgetfulness were normal, scientists have discovered that Chicago third of participants had brains full of parasites, lumps of wax and protein scar tissue that had all the signs of times Alzheimer's Senior disease.Their were pathological. Despite the fact that theirBrains showed deterioration similar to those who succumb to Alzheimer's trademarks, these participants were able to lead a normal life function, ie, they were necessary in the situation, personal care, household, social and daily life. Their ability to do so, the inevitable question: Why is that some people are totally unable to work and prevention of brain deterioration, while others (who had a similar level of degradation in the brain) can be called functionnormal?

Dr. David Bennett, a researcher at the Alzheimer Rush University Medical Center recognizes that it can be inferred from this discrepancy: "There is something about these people without obvious memory problems to large amounts of pathology can. We must understand why this is so-so. " His studies show that certain factors seem to prevent us from building in our daily lives, despite the plaques and protein in the brain to act. These factorsinclude: a) a high level of education and b) the sense of social connection.

Mentally stimulating activities such as learning a new skill or language, crossword puzzles, reading and writing all help to veteran senior moments of accidents and preventive Alzheimer's from brain to compensate for the crippling disease elements des Just as moderate aerobic activity (like running or brisk walking) can prevent the blood reserve, heart attacks, in order to build a spirit ofThe construction activity can create a "neural reserve" that led people to tolerate without succumbing to the deterioration of the brain Alzheimer's disease permits.

The next question we must then ask, what activities we can preserve our neural reserve and cultivate?

In the first famous nun study, the researchers discovered that the sisters, who had a dense linguistic style in their journal entries in advance (which demonstrated the ability to manipulate complex ideas and images in one sentence)were the most affected by Alzheimer's affected. Writing is an activity, the correlation between the left and right hemisphere of the brain translate requests, demands emotions and thoughts in words of bilateral involvement of both hemispheres of the mind and senses. So in all modes of writing - and writing daily. Make as much daily physical activity. Write your spirit, heart to write and write from the gut. Do you think what others do not worry. Just write!

According to learning a new skill orLanguage. Assimilate something new, something that helps the brain form new neural reserves mostly unknown territory. The language may be in the realm of music or computer, as in reality, much has developed in these days in programming, the entire field of online systems, programs and protocol is literally open up all sorts of possibilities for growth.

Third Learn to play a new instrument - a further example of integration of new land. If we are in arecent Violin Concerto, where my grandson (4 years) performed repertoire with members of his Suzuki School, we have an elderly man was hit with children (3 to 17 were) and played his piece soloist. The applause was thunderous.Non Senior Moments like this inspire us to step outside our comfort zone and work through what it takes to learn a new skill.

Fourth Travel far and wide. For the same reason, traveling to different cultures to improvebrain activity. If my partner and I traveled in France and Italy last fall, we feel that fire neurotransmitters in our brain - especially in Italy. We had to learn to ask for food, weather, directions, U-Bahn station in the bathroom. The city has had a physical puzzle to tame us, and nowhere was this more evident than in Venice, where the ferry that brought us safe located in Piazza San Marco suggested that we had a conversation with sirLatvia, a lady of Capri and a couple from Korea. We were the linguistic world - but somehow we managed to understand very well. This was a situation where their eyes, hands and gestures speak louder than words!

Fifth Exercise daily. Not only aerobic exercise and cardiovascular strengthens our muscles, joints and bones, improved brain tissue density in older adults. During the normal process of human aging, the brain loses an average of 15% bark and 25% of whiteBrain substance, a loss that is directly linked to the reduction of cognitive performance. Aerobic and cardiovascular exercise for the brain areas that are most vulnerable to the ravages of aging.

Sixth Last but not least, bless all those you meet and love what you do, forget the details that are not essential for your spiritual growth, as your moments of high level. Leaving your ego has the same dynamic, like learning a new language. Know that there are shadows and that our true home iselsewhere, this knowledge catapults us into learning the language of the mind.
